changing identity

also located in zurich, the geroldsareal is purposely non-gentrified. it is supposed to be a haven of greenery and spontaneity in a banking district. it has a very strong identity and is very popular with creatives and tourists, as it is a successful night life destination. the buildings on the area are either quite old or temporary structures. this begs the question of how long this neighbourhood will still be enjoyable. the task was to pick one of the existing buildings and transform it in order to preserve the identity of the neighbourhood. my solution was, to add a housing part to an existing antiquity store and connect it to the existing outdoor dining experience next door.
